Have you ever heard about super memory in education? Why we need super memory in education? Is it important in our life?
Super memory techniques are widely used by people around the world without noticing. Memory is something that hard to define because it is amazing God give to us living things. Memory processing required 3 basic stages to create it which are ENCODING, STORAGE and RECALL. The best way to improve memory must consist of 5 senses: Smell, Touch, Sight, Sound and Taste. You can google and read books that all authors mention this. You can find that toddlers learn things based on these 5 senses because it is the best ways of learning. But not all things can be use all the senses in education world. That’s why using Super Memory Techniques are able to improve your memorizing and recalling even some senses missing.
As I mention, Super Memory Techniques improve your capability of memorizing and recalling on necessary things in daily life. There are various of techniques out there but the most common super memory technique are acronyms and mnemonics. Acronym is an abbreviation formed from the first letters of each words and pronounced as a word and mnemonic is something that can short sentences or special word that used to assist in memory. Memory palace is one of the super memory techniques that consider top tier for it combine other super memory techniques into one. But you don’t have to reach that high if you not interest to just memorize. So I introduce you something useful for most of us. THE MIND MAP
Mind map is consider 2nd stage of super memory technique. In traditional method, all the note taking (problem analysis, planning, preparing) is kind of linear and bored because lack of visual rhythm, image and colour to activate the brain excitement. Mind Mapping in other hand push our brain’s abilities. By placing image/main center of the page in order to smooth the memorization and easy generate creative ideas, and eventually branching out in associative networks. It also can be say as radiant thinking which your brain focused on the central sphere and radiate it out to tens, hundreds, thousands and millions of branches. MindMap includes pictures, acroynm, mnemonics, tables, many more.
This skill set I personally think is useful in their study rather than hardcore memorizing. Based on my experience when I was young, I just fully memorizing every single word in essays. It is hard and struggling, even I memorize it all but when come to exams, nothing I remember. I don’t wish my children to live in this kind of world for this world going to replace soon. It is important for children to learn in creative and innovative. So, I undergo some research on Education that implement it and here are the ones.
3Q MRC KINDERGARTEN
3Q MRC is one of education that used super memory. Initially I doesn’t like the branding school because of the student number. I worry my son been squeeze or cramp in the class with other kids (I measure based on adult size which is totally wrong). Then, I thought it is just like other kindergarten that teach conventional ABC. One day, I obtained project from RIA Education to do the Surveillance Camera Installation at few of its branches. I saw the noticeboard filled with student works. It is not just an ordinary work. It is actually a mind map full of creative mind maps with a short essays at the bottom. It is pretty amazing.
Flash card is one of the super memory techniques that help kids to learn in fast mode. Some parents think it might tough to their kids. Actually it is fine because kids have the ability to be very creative and learn new things. Besides, they add pictures for kids to imagine rather than focusing on words.
9 multiple intelligence of humans that introduced by Howard Gardener. These multiple intelligence theory are applied in the nursery curriculum development able to help students develop their strengths on certain intelligence and build up their confidence to improve their weak intelligence. So I sent my son to one of the branch, Vista Perdana. The reason? Because it is near my house. Just 5 mins walking distance. I don’t really mind where he go as long he learn skills. He is happy with his study.
My wife and I encourage him to take up performance or competition to learn skills. For me, MindMap is important so he don’t have so much struggle in study because. Do I focus his number in result? Junior School Programme
Junior School Programme also known as JSP. It is from the SMM Education and Miri have a few of them. It is continuation of 3Q MRC or Kids MindMap so that the kids can easily adapt with it. Nice part at JSP is guiding the kids to create their own mindmap using their own creativity mind. Why need to do that? Everyone have different point of idea and mind. Create own can improve their creative thinking and have their own words to remember easily.
BRAINERGY Malacca
This is a special segment that I would like to share with you. Brainergy Tuition Center is another education using super memory in Malacca. They offered all Malaysia Subjects with mind map. I am fortunate enough to meet up with the Brainergy founder, Desmond Koh and learn with him. We really have a great discussion on super memory techniques and even share some books to me. He introduce his own mind map known as CueMap to me based on modification on traditional method. It is interesting map that it have its own way to remember the mind map.
