The nature environment is a natural unit consisting of humans, all plants, animals and micro organisms in an area together with all of the non-living or non- organisms in the area. Our human role by right to be guardian of the nature which I learn in science subject in primary. However, most of us are destroy it including me. Land, water and air pollution are what we give to nature environment. Are we proud of what we done? How we going to answer God when He question your good deeds. We produce waste every single day non-stop.
Miri so called as tourism city but the environment don’t really look nice at all. Some people throw rubbish everywhere as if the workers that will clean the city in a day. Seaside? Worst. Education really that poor? Thanks God, people start to focus on solid waste management in World.
What is waste management??
It is activities and actions that are collecting, transporting, processing or disposal, managing and monitoring of the waste materials. The purposes of waste management are reduce pollution, protecting environment, enhance the communities life.

Selina Juul is a busy woman who fight against food waste. Impressive. Did Daddy do something regarding waste food. Yes, I do.
They did a very nice job on turning sewer fat into biodiesel.
If you ask daddy, did daddy do some waste management? Remember mommy’s kindergarten, grandma and our house’s waste food will be feeding our chicken. If you wonder what I want to focus on which solid waste management, I am looking on the Food Waste and Landscape Waste. Perhaps when you grow older, you can consider about it. So why these two? I will explain why:
Food Waste
Food waste has become environmental issue in global over the last decade. Although approximately 800 million people suffer from hunger, food still can be wasted so much. Unbelievable. If the food waste in global is 1.6 billion tonnes per year and increase year by year, seriously a lot of environment issues cause by it. If you ask how to consider food waste, I personally think it will be waste that not properly disposed or compost. Imaging all the food waste go into landfill, it will create:
- Green House Gases emissions and climate change
- Nutrient loss,
- Sanitation,
- Water contamination,
- Ecological and Economic impacts
Why it is so potential that I want to focus on? If Miri going into Tourism sector, it will produce a lot of food waste around our city for Food and Beverage definitely can’t escape from tourism spot. So why don’t fully utilize it. How we going do it? Do we need high budget? As you can see my first idea which I already mention to you, poultry feed. Imaging all the food waste is use to feed poultry, basically you are feeding them free and nature. If you can consider poultry that you feed with food waste as organic then you are producing organic poultry. You can mark up the price of the poultry to be higher or maintain the price so more Mirians can enjoy the healthy diet, which is the best (make your choice)? If the food waste can’t settle fast or not suitable for poultry such as banana skins, pineapple skins, you can proceed to next project. It is Composting Method, you can use worm casting composting or brown and green composting. You can fertilize the land of agriculture or build permaculture farm. Next is the food for Black Soldier Fly (BSF). The larvae of BSF have high protein and other nutrient for the poultry. If you can’t find BSF, just a normal fly and get the maggots are good enough. So you can see why daddy focus on this particular waste management, what No? It is low cost business.. You solving the F&B problems and give the second chance of life to return and protect the mother nature. Oh ya, 1 more is quite hard for me now. The coconut shell, if you can burn them properly using the fire chamber (fully combustion – less smoke) that can heat them to be charcoal or active charcoal is another environment friendly too.
Landscape Waste
Landscape waste is all materials related to landscape like grass, shrubbery cuttings, leaves, tree limbs, lawns, vines and trees. Remember the branches from mulberry that daddy use to grind into wood chips. Daddy is experimenting the Back to Eden Method. I personally think it is the best method that work well with permaculture technique for all designs are based on the forest. How can forest able to sustain itself? Do they need external resources (human, machine, fertilizers) to grow? No. They can sustain themselves and grow well. Who create this amazing design? It is no other than God Himself. Using the wood chip to cover the soil to keep the soil from direct sunlight. Wood chip able to create fungi network (More common is Mycorrhizal networks) that connect all the plants together and transfer water, carbon, nitrogen, minerals and other nutrients. Wood chip can be slowly compost and give back nutrient. That’s why you need to add wood chip time by time. Then you must wonder why need chip /grind it into small piece. Just let it like be forest, put the trees, branches, leaves, and vines on the soil and decay. Yes, it can but it take much longer time to compost compare to wood chip. If you got interest, you can consider about it.
